The Role of Community in Prevention and Problem Solving Road Accidents : A Case Study of Tambonpang District Kosumphisai Mahasarakham, Province

Abstract

As to accident in the area of Tambonpang, caused by improper driving behavior of the such as drivie fast, driving careless, not wearing crash helmets. not giving turn indicator drinking alcohol, not installing a traffic signal lights the intersection create the obstacle and unsafe environment on the Rood is demand vision power light are not enough. These probing create accident in community the group of individuals who frequent accidents, children and community. Therefore, this research is intended : (1) to study the problem of road accidents and the severity of the problem in the community, (2) to study the role of the community in the prevention and create road safety in the Ban Pang community, (3) to study ways to prevent and resolve incidents of civic community Ban Pang in the community, Kosumphisai District, Mahasarakham Provice. The 360 population samples are conducted The researcher use accidental sampling and collect the accident cases on the rood The interviews is also conducted to the 50 people in a group discussion. The results are as follows:
1.) The risk of accidents are the use of motorcycles on the road or on the commute (percentage 61.4), the violates traffic regulations (68.9 percent), ride parks of traffic (43.9 percent), the seat belt is thin. attempts (63.9 percent), wearing a helmet sometimes (66.4 percent), an accident the last day of holiday season (14.4 percent), accidents outside urban areas locations (29.2 percent). In conclusion, accident happened frequently in this community. Majority of accidents happened outside the community border especially the main rood of Kosumphisai – tapa and the intersection. The cruel society are the volunteer to prevent and solve the problems let the sulcus which are very good model of solving problems of rood accidents in community.
