Utilization Pattern and Facebook Media Literacy in Elders

Abstract
The research on Utilization Pattern and Facebook media literacy in elders objects 1) to compare the populational characteristics, knowledge and technology familiarity in elders with the use of Facebook, to study Facebook media utilization among elders, to study Facebook media literacy in elders, 2) to study the relationship between the use of Facebook and the media literacy of the elderly, 3) to study the influence of demographic characteristics, knowledge, technology familiarity, and the utilization of elderly’s Facebook media literacy, and 4) to study the influence of individual utilization on the elderly's Facebook media literacy. The survey research was used in this study. The sample group consists of 400 elders in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. It was found from the study that 1) populational characteristics of elders consist of education, career, technology knowledge, frequency of Facebook usage, technology familiarity, and media literacy. They show significant differences in Facebook utilization and media literacy. the average value of Facebook utilization in elders was in moderate (= 2.94). In other words, the elders have used Facebook for the reason of relaxation and enjoyment most. Next below, they used it for showing their identity as well as following their favorite people. Business is appeared to be the smallest reason of Facebook utilization. The average value of Media Literacy was moderate (= 3.33). The use of Facebook is related to media literacy of the elderly. 3 The educational level, career, Facebook utilization influence on Facebook media literacy in elders. And finally, (R2 = 37.30) 4) Facebook utilization in each aspect influence on Facebook media literacy in elders. (R2=39.10).
