Change in business and investment in Chiangrai Province over the past 60 years (1946-2007) : in case studies on the change of business and investment in the Thanalai Road

Abstract

 Thanalai Road has a very important role in terms of business since World War II. The Ministry of Economic Affairs (or the Ministry of Commerce at the present) has established the Chiag-rai Commerce Company Limited, situated on Thanalai Road, for the purpose of helping people during the beginning of the World War II, had a very important role during the war, as there was a limited supply of goods. The company procured all necessary supplies and distributed at a very reasonable price, by distributing to all districts in Chiangrai. Agents from each district has to come to Thanalai Road to receive products from the company for sales. When the war was terminated, business on Thanalai Raod continued to increase, that makes Thanalai Road to become an important business area in Chiangrai.
