Communicative Strategy for Water Resource Management of Community Participatory in Mae Hang Water Basin, Wiang Chai District, Chiang Rai Province

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to study communicative strategy for water resource management of community participatory in Mae Hang Water Basin, Wiang Chai District, Chiang Rai Province, including factors affecting the communication to build up the community participatory for water resource management. This qualitative study was conducted by in-depth-interview, focus group and participatory observation. The study revealed that the communicative strategy for water resource management of community participatory in Mae Hang Water Basin composed of 4 strategies; (1) knowledge transfer and sharing (2) social measurement construction and building up awareness activities (3) applying religious belief and rites (4) seeking for governmental sectors’ cooperation. According to the factors affecting the communication to building up the community participatory for water resource management, the study showed that there were 12 factors such as (1) social status of information (2) similarity of sender and receiver (3) information characteristics (4) flow of information in community (5) awareness or possession of water resource (6) mutual benefits of groups or community (7) economical status of community (8) particular local culture and tradition (9) community rule or measurement (10) support of related organizations (11) time and (12) law and government policy.
