Structural Effect of Business Environment Entrepreneurship and Determinant toward the Family Business Performance in Upper Northern Region of Thailand

Abstract

The purpose of this research were (1) to study business environment, entrepreneurship, innovation, family constitution, business network and family business performance in upper northern region of Thailand, (2) to study the structural effect of business environment, entrepreneurship and determinant toward the family business performance and (3) to study business performance of family business in upper Northern region of Thailand, and (4) to analyze problems and obstacles in business performance of family business in upper Northern region of Thailand. It was mixed methodology research with sampling group and received 412 responded questionnaires representing 82.40 percents. The research tools were questionnaire and in-depth interview. The descriptive statistics was applied to analyze percentage, average, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, reliability, deviation and inferential statistics to analyze the effect of structural relationship with AMOS 7.0 program. The confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the applied variable measurement model was conformed to the theory by observed variables had solution values between .568-.987, with average variance value between .506-.879 and reliability value between .596-.998. The structural casual relationship model conformed to empirical data χ 2=36.36, χ 2/df =1.28, df=28.47, GFI= .973, CFI=.977, RMR=.043, RMSEA=.034 by family constitution had the highest value and followed by business performance, entrepreneurship, business environment business network and innovation. While the structural effect revealed that entrepreneurship had most effect toward family constitution, and followed by family constitution had direct effect toward business performance and business environment had direct positive effect toward entrepreneurship and indirect effect toward hypothesis factors, i.e. innovation, family constitution and business network. It also revealed that determinant had direct effect toward family business performance. The business performance of family business was relied on business environment, entrepreneurship and determinants of innovation, family constitution and business network.
