Abstract
The Effects of Cultural Dimensions on a High Performance Work System: An Integrative Literature Review
The purpose of this study was to review the existingliterature and investigate the effects of Hofstede’s cultural dimensions on a high performance work system. The results revealed that participative management and performance appraisal were affected by cultural dimensions; nevertheless, training and development was not affected by cultural dimensions. Findings of the study contribute to the application of human resource management in different cultures. Although a high performance work system is a universal concept, results revealed that some components in this concept are not cultural free; leading to a discussion of future studies.
