Generation Y in the Workplace: A Study of the Relationship between Value Congruence and Organizational Commitment
This studyexploredthevaluesofgenerationYemployeesandthe relationship between value congruence and organizational commitment. Data were collected from generation Y employees in Thailand. Data from 621respondents wereanalyzed.3typesof values(humanity, advancement, andconservatism)and3dimensionsofcommitment (affective, continuance, andnormative) wereconsidered.Theresultsrevealedthat: (1)humanity was the most important valueofgenerationYemployees, (2) valuecongruence waspositivelyrelatedtoorganizationalcommitment,and(3) therelationship wasdifferent for eachdimension ofcommitmentandeach type of values
