THE IMPACT OF USING INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING ON AN ANALYTICAL SKILL IN TERMS OF FOREIGN LOANWORDS IN THAI LANGUAGE

This research aimed to study an analytical skill of Mathayom 3 students at Ramkhamhaeng University Demonstration School in terms of foreign loanwords in Thai language through the use of inquiry-based learning. The population was 317 Mathayom 3 students at Ramkhamhaeng University Demonstration School, Semester 1, Academic Year 2022. The sample size was determined according to Krejcie and Morgan’s table at 175 students. In addition, the data was analyzed through two statistical methods—mean and standard deviation.
The research found that
before the inquiry-based learning, the Mathayom 3 students at Ramkhamhaeng University Demonstration School has a mean score of =11.22, ranging from 8.01 to 12.00, meaning an analytical skill at an adequate level. After the inquiry-based learning of foreign loanwords in Thai language, the mean score increased of =13.81, ranging from 12.01 to 16.00, meaning there was an improvement in the analytical skill.
From the results of the study it was found that using the inquiry process as the basis for learning management which makes students have better analytical thinking skills. Although the results of this study did not have much difference in scores, but it can be concluded that developing analytical thinking skills is considered very important in the intellectual development of students in order to grow into a quality adult and an important force in the further development of the country.
