อัตมโนทัศน์ทางสังคม : มิติการรับรู้ตนเองที่สำคัญต่อวัยรุ่น

วัยรุ่นถือเป็นช่วงวัยแห่งความท้าทายในการเปลี่ยนผ่านจากเด็กเพื่อก้าวเข้าสู่ความเป็นผู้ใหญ่ ในช่วงวัยนี้จะต้องเผชิญกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงในทุก ๆ มิติ ทั้งทางด้านร่างกาย อารมณ์ สังคม และสติปัญญา อีกทั้งยังเป็นวัยที่สำคัญเป็นอย่างยิ่งต่อหล่อหลอมการรับรู้ตนเองและนำไปสู่การค้นพบอัตลักษณ์แห่งตน การรับรู้ตนเองทางสังคม (Social Self-concept) ซึ่งเป็นการรับรู้ถึงทักษะทางสังคมของตนเอง และการรับรู้ถึงการได้รับการยอมรับจากผู้อื่นเป็นการรับรู้ตนเองในมิติหนึ่งที่มีอิทธิพลต่อวัยรุ่นเป็นอย่างมากต่อการปรับตัวเข้าหาสภาพแวดล้อมเพื่อนำไปสู่การเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของกลุ่ม การส่งเสริมให้วัยรุ่นได้มีอัตมโนทัศน์ทางสังคมที่ถูกต้องและชัดเจนจะช่วยให้พวกเขาสามารถแสดงพฤติกรรมที่สะท้อนถึงการปรับตัวเข้าหาบริบทแวดล้อมได้เป็นอย่างดี และดำเนินชีวิตบนพื้นฐานแห่งการเข้าใจในความเป็นตนเองได้อย่างเหมาะสม
