This research entitled “Development of Geo-Informatics System and Potential for Tourism in Uttaradit” has he objectives as follows: 1) to study and survey the tourist attraction in Uttaradit, 2) to develop the geo-informatics system for tourist attraction management in Uttaradit, 3) to develop the potential of tourist attraction in Uttaradit’s community, and 4) to develop the network of tourist attraction in Uttaradit. This study is collected data from target groups in 9 districts of samples, including Buddhist monks, government officials, entrepreneurs and people in 36 people and the samples for activities in the workshop group of 20 people.
The findings of this research as follows:
1. The survey of cultural tourist attractions found that the government sector should hasten the development of sustainable cultural attractions and be more concrete by organizing activities to promote knowledge to the temple, community and local responsible person in order to be able to develop cultural tourist attractions of Uttaradit, in all directions are the sustainable cultural attractions, and all parties will get benefit from this tourism evenly and the potential for conservation , environmental and cultural protection that can develop to be the sustainable tourist attractions, that is a stakeholder in the area who pay attention and promote nature conservation in order to maintain the sustainable cultural abundance to attract tourists, but those who are stakeholders in the area that interest and would like to have training for more knowledge to increase the potential to be the sustainable tourist attractions.
2. Development of geo-informatics system for tourist attraction management in Uttaradit there is used in less tourism development. This study therefore is the development of geographic information system (GIS) and application of cultural tourist attractions according to the Buddhist way of Uttaradit for being the same direction and the sustainable integration causing benefits for many groups that are related to tourism, including temples, tourism business operators, food, accommodation, people in the area and most importance is the tourists who are people groups that come to experience culture and way of life of people in Uttaradit province that has up to 3 cultures, namely Lanna culture, Lan Chang culture, and Sukhothai culture. The geographic information system therefore helps to calculate the distance of travel and coordinates cultural attractions in each location that make them to calculate the travel time and help in public relations about tourism at the same time that can develop sustainability.
3. Development of tourist attraction potential found that there are different readiness in each area. Some places have readiness in place, information, community strength, and budget. The development of tourism potential by geographic information systems that makes the connection of the tourist coordinate clearly. And should be developed in parallel with the application of geographic information systems for public relations on web pages or social network by considering the application of geographic information technology for cultural tourism management mainly under integrated Buddhist wisdom to create the most sustainable and concrete.
4. The development of tourist attraction network found that communities in each community there are mainly self-reliance in developing tourist attractions and networking. For government agencies have very little budget support regarding tourism. Most of them support the budget for outstanding merit – making activities of each community that is supported every year. From the fieldwork of interviewing who related in the tourist area of each area in 9 districts, including Mueang district, Lap Lae district, Tron district, Phichai district, Thong Saen Khan district, Tha Pla district, Nam Pat district, Fak Tha district, and Ban Khok district found that each community has developed a network in the community only, not supported or network expansion into other communities due to budget problems. Network format, the characteristics of networking and tourism network development of each area there are similarity.
