Abstract

The intent of this study is to identify metadata elements of mural paintings by comparing the painting elements with those of the metadata standard core to find common elements. The comparison is undertaken by comparing the metadata elements of the paintings with 15 elements found through the analysis of their descriptions, 6 elements obtained from the users’ need study, 17 elements discovered from an analysis of the current record registry of the Office of Archeology, and with the VRA Core standard.  The comparison resulted in 19 common metadata elements.  Thirteen of them are applicably adjusted with reference to VRA core standard, while the other 6 do not match with any standard, and they need to be created.
