The Relationship between Korea and Thailand from the Past to the Present

Abstract

Nowadays Korea plays a very important role in Thailand pertaining to its culture, society, and investment. Thailand and Korea has had a long-lasting relationship since the late 14th century through the delivery of the envoy from Thailand to Korea. However, the bond between the two countries was significantly strengthened during the Korean War as Thailand, one of the country members of the United Nations, engaged in the battle. Since 1980 Korean culture has influenced Thai society firstly through investors, tourists, and
immigrants, and currently through the Korean wave employed by the Korean government as part of their policy. As a result, Korean culture is greatly popular for Thai teenagers and a group of people in Thailand. There is the popularity of Korean stars, food, goods, and products which can be seen in the Thai society at the present time.
