The Study on The Inscription of King Ramkhamhaeng The Great as The Fiction

Abstract

The objectives of this research paper were to 1) examine the elements of fiction appearing in the literature titled the Inscription of King Ramkhamhaeng the Great, and 2) investigate the linguistic strategies appearing in the literature titled the Inscription of King Ramkhamhaeng the Great. The sample used in this study was the literature titled the Inscription of King Ramkhamhaeng the Great issued by the Fine Arts Department written in the book of the Introduction to Thai literature (Sukhothai Inscription One). The documentary research was used in this study and presented using the analytical description.

The results indicated that the Inscription of King Ramkhamhaeng the Great was composed as the work of fiction writing which consisting of the creation of story structure and storytelling, character creation, scene creation, and theme presentation. With regard to  linguistic strategies, it was found that the essential characteristics were the use of words, the vivid imagery in writing, and the sensational sentences. Linguistic and literary tools were used to create the literature titled the Inscription of King Ramkhamhaeng the Great to be a literary genre of fiction. Moreover, the inscription is defined as the historical significant primary evidence of Thailand.
