ผู้หญิงกับปิตาธิปไตยในนวนิยายของอุทิศ เหมะมูล

Abstract

This article is extracted from the thesis titled “Genders and Sexualities in Uthis Haemamool’s Works”. It aims at studying the relationship between women and patriarchy in three novels: ‘Lap Lae, Kaeng Khoi’ , ‘Lak Alai’ , and ‘Juti’. Through gender critical lens, it is found that women and patriarchy interact within 2 dimensions: 1) women under patriarchy and 2) women resisting patriarchy.
Under the patriarchal power, there is violence against women. Women’s dependence is rooted in the inferior educational and family background. Women’s resistance is found in: 1) language politics, 2) mediation of repressed feelings, 3) economic independence,       4) supernatural power, and 5) the manipulation of sexual desire. In the light of women’s liberation from patriarchy, the analysis implies that the power of father figures can be inherited to obstruct women’s pursuit of their liberation.
