การเตรียมความพร้อมเพื่อการเกษียณอายุของอาจารย์สถาบันอุดมศึกษาเอกชนในเขตกรุงเทพมหานครและปริมณฑล THE PREPARATION FOR RETIREMENT OF THAI PRIVATE UNIVERSITY LECTURERS IN BANGKOK METROPOLITAN AND PERIPHERY

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to investigate the preparation for retirement of Thai private university lecturers in Bangkok metropolitan area; 2) to study the factors relating to the preparation for retirement of Thai private university lecturers in Bangkok metropolitan area; and 3) to propose guidelines for retirement preparation for Thai private university lecturers. The sample group for this research comprised 400 Thai private university lecturers. A questionnaire was deployed as a research instrument. Descriptive statistics used for the analysis included frequency, mean, percentage, and standard deviation. Inferential statistics included t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient. The findings revealed the following: 1) The preparation for retirement of Thai private university lecturers in Bangkok metropolitan area was at a high level. Psychosocial factors were found at a moderate level. The factors related to the attitude towards retirement preparation factor were found at a high level; 2) There was no statistically significant difference affecting the preparation for retirement of Thai private university lecturers in Bangkok metropolitan area in terms of gender whereas there were statistically significant differences affecting the preparation for retirement of Thai private university lecturers in Bangkok metropolitan area in terms of age, marital status, monthly income and income sufficiency. In addition, the psychosocial factors and the attitude factors had positive correlations with the retirement preparation. There was a relationship between attitude and the preparation and adaptation for retirement; 3) For guidelines for retirement preparation for Thai private university lecturers, the following approaches were suggested: (1) creating social networks for contacting and helping one another, (2) good financial planning, and (3) focusing on health. Universities and agencies should emphasize the importance of entering the aging society through means such as educating their lecturers about the benefits of the preparation for retirement.
