บทความวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอแผนยุทธศาสตร์การส่งเสริมและรักษา “โขน” ในฐานะมรดกภูมิปัญญาทางวัฒนธรรมของมนุษยชาติให้สอดคล้องทั้งกับบริบทสังคมไทยร่วมสมัยและมาตรฐานสากลภายใต้อนุสัญญายูเนสโก ค.ศ. 2003 (UNESCO 2003 Convention) โดยเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการวิจัยจัดทำแผนยุทธศาสตร์การส่งเสริมและรักษามรดกภูมิปัญญาทางวัฒนธรรมรายการโขน การวิจัยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยแบบผสมผสาน (Mixed Methods Research) ครอบคลุมการวิจัยเชิงเอกสารและการระดมความคิดเห็นจากผู้มีส่วนได้ส่วนเสียใน 4 ภูมิภาคทั่วประเทศ จำนวน 150 คน ได้แก่ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ ศิลปิน หน่วยงานภาครัฐและสถาบันการศึกษา ผลการวิจัยพบว่าโขนมีจุดแข็งอย่างโดดเด่นในฐานะมรดกภูมิปัญญาทางวัฒนธรรมที่ได้รับการรับรองระดับนานาชาติและมีรากฐานทางวัฒนธรรมที่เข้มแข็ง ขณะเดียวกันก็ยังเผชิญความท้าทายเชิงโครงสร้าง ทั้งด้านการสืบทอดสู่คนรุ่นใหม่ ความไม่สมบูรณ์ของระบบฐานข้อมูลดิจิทัล และความไม่ต่อเนื่องของกลไกสนับสนุนงบประมาณ จากข้อค้นพบดังกล่าว บทความนี้จึงนำเสนอยุทธศาสตร์ 8 ด้านที่บูรณาการทั้งการพัฒนาศักยภาพบุคลากร การผนึกโขนเข้าสู่ระบบการศึกษา การนำนวัตกรรมดิจิทัลมาเสริมพลัง และการยกระดับสู่ Soft Power เชิงยุทธศาสตร์ เพื่อสร้างความยั่งยืนให้โขนดำรงอยู่อย่างมีชีวิตชีวาในสังคมร่วมสมัย
