Abstract

This paper examines the issue of injustice, prevalent in Thai society. It addresses the issue by raising two critical questions: what is the face of injustice?, and how can people in any society live with prevalent injustice? The paper begins with a description of 4 cases of glaring injustice found both in Thai society and elsewhere. Two fourteenth century Italian artists’ paintings of injustice are then used to examine the face of injustice. Using a moving short story depicting the horror hidden in an “ideal” society, the paper ends with a discussion of how the mask of injustice makes it possible for people to live with it.
