Abstract
This research aims to examine the original capitals, circumstances, factors and conditions which possibly affect the hand-woven textile procedures of Bann Nongnguak textile center. Additionally, to conserve and inherit the local wisdom of hand-woven textile, the development methods in accordance with Dharma principles are explored. The results have shown as follow: 1) The original capitals: the weaving is conducted by the organic dye or natural dye method that involves with the materials from the nature. This method is a traditional way of weaving and has been contrived by the ancient. Therefore, various different patterns of the fabrics were created both the traditional Thais and the applied Thais. In the same time, the important Dharma principle, the five mental powers which are the power of faith, energy, mindfulness, concentration and wisdom were integrated along the hand-woven process. 2) The circumstances, factors and conditions which possibly influence the weaving procedures: in spite of the excessive governmental sector supports, many marketing obstacles are consecutively occurred in particular. To clarify, machinery production along with chemical dye method is increased. Moreover, lacking of stylish package and product design, also the lower price by other competitors. Another fact to mention is the insufficient inheritors due to the old belief of Bann Nongnguak that the clothes belong to one’s death should be cremated with the body. These factors can affect the inheritance of the textile patterns. 3) The development methods: the local wisdom program is initiated to promote the participation and awareness of people in learning and conserving the local wisdom of hand-woven textile. Therefore, the identity and uniqueness of hand-woven textile is emphasized and revitalized in respect of the modern times. Besides, this indigenous knowledge should be preserved by the Department of Intellectual Property and the influential persons should be honored.
