Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the level of educational management ofThai language, Thai culture, and Thai history courses in international schools in Phuket Province; and 2) to investigate the problems, obstacles, and recommendations concerning the management of teaching and learning in these courses. This study employed a mixed-methods research design. The sample consisted of 105 school administrators and teachers responsible for teaching Thai language, Thai culture, and Thai history. The research instruments included a questionnaire and focus group discussion guidelines. Quantitative data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation (S.D.), while qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis.
The findings revealed that:
1) the overall level of instructional management for Thai language, Thai culture, and Thai history courses in international schools in Phuket Province was at the highest level, ranked from highest to lowest as follows: (1) curriculum administration, (2) development and training, (3) international school context and curriculum, (4) supervision and monitoring, and (5) learning management.
2) the study of problems, obstacles, and recommendations revealed that schools faced limitations arising from learner diversity, instructional time, and the context of international curricula. Administrative support, teacher development, appropriate activities and instructional materials, experiential learning, and parental involvement were identified as important factors contributing to sustainable success. The research findings can therefore be used as guidelines for developing academic administration and instructional management in ways that are consistent with the context of international schools.
