Self-Development According to Buddhist Ethics

Abstract

The academic article on “Self-Development according to Buddhist Ethics” is a guideline for developing one’s own quality of life according to Buddhist ethics. Buddhist ethics are principles of Buddhism regarding the rules for judging human behavior, such as what is right, what is wrong, what is good, what is bad, and the development of knowledge that can be used to reduce or eliminate all evil defilements, or what we call learning to do good and abandon evil. The knowledge that must be searched for and studied is the truth about oneself, studying the principles of natural knowledge and practicing according to the truth by not doing all evil, doing good, which is doing good, and making one’s own mind pure. When doing only good and the results of that goodness will result in happiness, which is called the phenomenon of doing good, which is happiness that arises both internally, which we call virtue, and externally, which we call beauty in manners, which will give the practitioner knowledge and understanding. Therefore, self-development starts with applying Buddhist ethics in daily life happily, which is the goal for society and the country.
