The Participation of Village Health Volunteers in Promoting Government Policies in the Surveillance of the COVID-19 Epidemic, Muang District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract
This research aimed to: 1) investigate the level of involvement of village health volunteers in promoting government policies on the COVID-19 epidemic surveillance,
2) compare the level of involvement of village health volunteers in promoting government policies on the COVID-19 epidemic surveillance, and 3) explore strategies to enhance the involvement of village health volunteers in promoting government policies on the COVID-19 epidemic surveillance in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. The study adopted the Principles of Sangkhahavatthu 4 and employed a mixed-method research design with a sample size of 375 participants and 10 key information providers. Data collection instruments included questionnaires and interviews. The data were analyzed using various statistical methods, including frequencies, percentages, means, standard deviations, t-tests, and F-tests.
The research results were as follows:
1) The overall level of involvement of village health volunteers in promoting the government’s policy on the COVID-19 epidemic surveillance in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province, was high.
2) Village health volunteers with different genders and educational backgrounds had similar levels of involvement in promoting the government’s policy on the COVID-19
epidemic surveillance. However, village health volunteers with different ages and lengths of service exhibited varying levels of involvement in promoting the government’s policy on the COVID-19 epidemic surveillance.
3) The strategies for promoting the involvement of village health volunteers in the government’s policy on the COVID-19 epidemic surveillance in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province, were found to be effective when applying the Principles of Sangkhahavatthu 4. The research revealed the significance of disease surveillance and the awareness of its impact on patients, families, and communities. It emphasized the importance of collaboration and
effective communication among all parties, while urging village health volunteers to serve as role models in disease prevention. Furthermore, continuous learning and staying up-to-date with current knowledge were highlighted as essential factors.
