Community Environment Planning for Environment Quality Management in Eco - Industrial Development Zone in Laem Chabang Municipality, Si Racha District, Chonburi

Abstract

                    A qualitative research titled community environment planning for environment quality management in eco - industrial development zone in Laem Chabang Municipality, Si Racha District, Chonburi aims to create a community environmental plan in Laem Chabang municipality. The population is local administrators in the political department, public servants, and local administration staff responsible for the eco - industrial zone. The research tools are uninstructed interview, in-depth interview, and brainstorm from the three groups of the population: the community leaders, natural resource and environment protector volunteers, the local administrators, and representatives from the concerned organizations.
                    The results revel that the officers and the community leaders in Laem Chabang municipality area have moderate knowledge and understanding about the eco - industrial development zone with limited abilities and environmental quality assessment tools. Laem Chabang Municipality are well supported by the people. Nevertheless, the community leaders must be responsible to several duties. This makes them unable to participate in every activity and still lack of model community development plan on environmental quality management to comply with the development approach from eco - industrial city to sustainable environmental city. The environmental plan by the community is a project emphasizing on health and environmental effect precaution which covers all the aspects of environment, geography, society, and economics.
