CAUSAL FACTORS OF TEACHERS' EXTRA ROLE BEHAVIORS OF SCHOOLS IN EASTERN AREA

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of causal relationship model of teachers' extra role behavior with empirical study. The population was elementary school teachers in the area of Mueang District in Eastern Thailand. The sample consisted of 503 elementary school teachers in the area of Mueang District of three provinces in Eastern Thailand including Chanthaburi, Chonburi and Rayong and selected by multi-stage random sampling. In this study, questionnaires were used to collect data about five variables as follows: self-efficacy in extra role behavior, personal initiative, workplace friendship, motivation in extra role behavior, and extra role behavior. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze data. Results indicated that the structural model was consistent with empirical data. 56% of the variance in associated with extra role behavior was explained by four predictors. Specifically, workplace friendship had the strongest direct effect on extra role behavior.
