บทคัดย่อ
หมู่เกาะซีซาและหมู่เกาะหนานซามีความสำคัญทั้งทางด้านภูมิศาสตร์การเมือง และทรัพยากรทางทะเล ทำให้จีนกับมหาอำนาจตะวันตกและญี่ปุ่นเกิดกรณีพิพาทแย่งชิงดินแดนครั้งแรกในช่วง ค.ศ. 1840 - 1912 ดังนั้น บทความนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการอ้างสิทธิ์ เหนือหมู่เกาะซีซาและหมู่เกาะหนานซาในประวัติศาสตร์นิพนธ์จีนช่วงปลายราชวงศ์ชิง (ค.ศ. 1840 – 1912) โดยใช้วิธีการศึกษาทางประวัติศาสตร์ (Historical Approach) เป็นหลัก ด้วยการวิเคราะห์จากหลักฐานจีนเป็นหลัก ได้แก่หนังสือประวัติศาสตร์ฉบับทางการ พงศาวดารท้องถิ่น และแผนที่สมัยราชวงศ์ชิง เป็นต้น ผลการศึกษาพบว่า งานประวัติศาสตร์นิพนธ์จีนปลายสมัยราชวงศ์ชิงแบ่งได้เป็นสามประเภท คือ (1) หนังสือประวัติศาสตร์ฉบับทางการ บันทึกการส่งเจ้าหน้าที่ของรัฐไปทำการสำรวจ พร้อมกับการเปิดโอกาสให้พ่อค้าเข้าไปลงทุนจัดตั้งโรงงาน เพื่อนำทรัพยากรบนเกาะมาใช้ประโยชน์ (2) พงศาวดารท้องถิ่นของจีน ได้เขียนถึงหมู่เกาะซีซา และหมู่เกาะหนานซาว่าอยู่ภายในอาณาเขตของจีนและได้รับการตรวจตราโดยกองทัพเรือ ของราชวงศ์ชิงอย่างสม่ำเสมอ และ (3) การทำแผนที่ช่วงปลายราชวงศ์ชิงโดยใช้แนวคิดจากตะวันตก ทำเครื่องหมายบนแผนที่เพื่อชี้ให้เห็นว่า หมู่เกาะซีซาและหมู่เกาะหนานซาเป็นเขตปกครอง ของมณฑลกวางตุ้ง ข้อเสนอแนะเชิงวิชาการ เห็นควรมีการศึกษาจากเอกสารของคู่กรณีพิพาทกับจีนเพื่อเพิ่มมุมมองที่หลากหลาย
