Participation of the people of Panthuwong village in the development of administrative divisions of Ban Koh Subdistrict, Muang District,Samut Sakhon Province

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) study the level of participation of the people of Panthuwong Village in the development of the Ban Koh Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Muang District, Samut Sakhon Province; and 2) study the problems and obstacles in the participation of the people of Panthuwong village in the development of the Ban Koh Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Muang District, Samut Sakhon Province. This research was quantitative research. The research samples were 367 people who were living in Panthuwong villages, a part of administrative divisions of Ban Koh Subdistrict Administrative Organization. The research instrument was a rating scale questionnaire, which had a total reliabilityvalue of 0.91. The research statistics included percentage, average and standard deviation and the hypothesis was analyzed by using T-test and Oneway Anova. The results showed: 1) Over all, the people of Pantuwong Village participated in the development of Ban Koh Subdistrict Administrative Organizations at a high level (x̄ = 3.87, S.D = 0.19).When considered on a case-by-case basis, it was found that the participation in receiving benefits (x̄=4.24, S.D.= 0.29), participation in action (x̄ =3.94 ,S.D. = 0.31) , participation in decision making (x̄ = 3.85, S.D. = 0.43) and participation in evaluation (x̄ = 3.47, S.D. = 0.40). And, 2) the problems and obstacles in the participation of the people of Panthuwong village in the development of the Ban Koh Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Samut Sakhon province was at the low level (x̄ = 1.39, S.D. = 0.06). Hypothesis testing results found demographic factors included gender, age, level of education, and occupation caused differences in participation level. However, marital status and monthly income had no significant correlations in the level of participation in the development.
