An Effective Way of English Learning for Students At Government High Schools in Shan State of Myanmar

This research aimed to investigate and enhance the effective ways of English learning at government high school in Mong Nai township, Shan State, Myanmar. Here are the two main objectives 1) To study factors effecting the English learning by students at government high schools in Mong Nai of Shan state, Myanmar and 2) To propose an effective way of English learning for students at government high schools in Mong Nai township of Shan state in Myanmar. In this research, researcher used qualitative approach, the study included in-depth interviews with 5 key informants to 5 teachers and 10 students along with the questionnaire. According to the result of the study, students are good at studying new vocabularies and also grammar translation method. They love to learn and participate the classroom so much. Students speak English in the class sometime to practice their English so that they can become better. Teachers provide the best teaching method for students in the class, motivate them to do homework, to learn English every day. Teachers always give homework and check the result to correct the student’s mistakes. However, they need more suitable environment to learn English. As the English language was not regarded as an official language in Myanmar, they face difficulty in improving their language skills. They do not receive sufficient support from the governments. The best version of their self can be found when they try extremely hard.
