Teacher Professional Pride and Cultivating Moral Consciousness in Early Childhood
Main Article Content
Abstract
This academic article aims to present a Three-Dimensional Integrative Framework (TDIF) on teacher professional pride and the role of early childhood teachers in cultivating moral consciousness in young children. This framework integrates knowledge from three main sources: Buddhist principles, Western psychological theories, and social capital within the local context.
The article conducts a systematic literature review from domestic and international academic databases, as well as analyzing case studies from model road safety early childhood development centers in Thailand, supported by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (THPF) since 2016. The study covers 4 regions, 13 provinces, and 397 early childhood development centers nationwide.
The findings indicate that teacher professional pride is a fundamental factor significantly impacting the quality of early childhood learning experiences. Teachers with high professional pride possess strong intrinsic motivation, a commitment to continuous self-development, and the ability to effectively design learning activities that promote safety awareness, moral awareness, and social responsibility.
The proposed three-dimensional framework comprises the teacher dimension, the learning environment dimension, and the community participation dimension. It was pointed out that integrating Buddhist principles, particularly the Threefold Training (Trisikha) and the Four Foundations of Mindfulness (Satipaṭṭhāna), with cognitive social learning theory and developmental theory can create a more comprehensive framework for teacher and child development than using any single theory in isolation.
