Strategies for Developing Leadership Characteristics of the 21st Century among School Directors in Udon Thani Province

Abstract
The objectives of this research are to 1) study the conceptual framework for leadership characteristics in the 21st century of school directors 2) analyse the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and obstacles of developing leadership characteristics in the 21st century of school directors 3) Design strategies for developing leadership characteristics in the 21st century for school directors. The mixed methods research model has 3 phases as follows: First phase, a group of information providers including 9 experts. The second phase, a group of information providers, including 15 experts and the third phase, a group of information providers, including
9 people using connoisseurship. Strategies evaluated by 234 school directors. The research tools used were questionnaires and assessment forms. Data were analysed using mean, standard deviation, SWOT Analysis, PNImodified and TOWS Matrix. The results of the research found that:
1) Conceptual framework for leadership characteristics in the 21st century for school directors has 8 elements: having a vision creativity use of technology and information media, communication Creation of collaborative networks, decision making, motivation and being a good role model
2) Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in developing leadership characteristics in the 21st century for school directors. There are 4 strengths, 4 weaknesses, 3 opportunities, and
1 threat. 3) Strategies for developing leadership characteristics in the 21st century for school directors in Udon Thani Provincial Primary Educational Service Area Office consists of 8 main strategies. Findings from this research school directors can use development strategies as guidelines for developing leadership characteristics in the 21st century in accordance with the context of each area.
