Management Strategies of Elderly Schools According to The Concept of Developing the Quality of Life

Abstract

The objectives of this research are 1) to study the current conditions and the desired conditions of administration in the elderly school according to the concept of life quality development, 2) to carry out a SWOT analysis (strength, weakness, opportunity, and threats) of the administration in the elderly school according to the concept of life quality development, and 3) to enhance and evaluate the quality of the administrative strategies in the elderly school according to the concept of life quality development. The methodology of this research is designed to be the multiphase mixed method. The sample size of quantitative research is up to 409 elderly schools. Detailed information about each elderly school was received from the committee chairman, the school director, or the headteacher. In sample selection, the researcher applied multi-stage and simple random sampling. The quota and purposive sampling proceeded for 20 experts to provide insight into the information using the known group technique. The tools in this research included 1) a questionnaire, 2) in-depth interviews, and 3) focus group recordings. The quantitative research's statistical analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the calculation of the priority need index. For the qualitative research, the researcher analyzed the detailed information and summarized it in the descriptive research.

The research findings showed that:

1) The current conditions of the administration in the elderly school, according to the concept of life quality development, are at high levels in all elements.

2) The strengths of the administration in the elderly school, according to the concept of life quality development, are the personal, material, and management administration. For the weaknesses, it is part of the financial budget. The opportunities are the parts of the body and the wisdom. And, the threats are the parts of mentality, society, and environment.

3) The administration strategies in the elderly school consist of four sections: 1. to improve the material and equipment to facilitate the organization of activities and the development of life quality. 2. urgently develop the personnel to improve their knowledge and capability in creating quality life care for the elderly. 3. to support the administrative participation from all organizations, and 4. to support resource mobilization using 18 minor strategies.
