A Study of English Learning Through Information Technology in English Clinic Rooms Towards English Communication Skills of Students at Higher Education Levels

Abstract

This research aims to learn the English language through the Information Technology system in the English clinic room of students of the Faculty of Humanities, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. The sample group consists of 100 students of 3rd -4th year, majoring in English. Since the sample group with 100 students can be controlled, the researcher chose this sample group with the number of 100 persons for an experiment. After learning the English language through the Information Technology system in the English clinic room, the researcher collected information using a questionnaire and the test using the English language made by the researcher based on the concepts and theories. Three qualified persons checked the tools. In collecting data from the sample group before and after learning English, it was found that in learning the English language through the Information Technology system in the English clinic room, the score is at the moderate level (= 2.07, S.D.=0.74). After learning English through the Information Technology system in the English clinic room, it is at a high level ( = 4.30=0.87).  

The result of the test using the English vocabulary was found that before using the information technology system in the English clinic room, students gained a score of 40 percent. After using the information technology system in the English clinic room, students scored 60 percent. Regarding the English Test of question sets on Feelings, before learning the English language through the Information Technology system, students gained a score of 39 percent. After learning the English language through the Information Technology system, students scored 61 percent. The result of the English Test of question sets on Whether, before learning, students gained a score of 34 percent. After learning the English language through the Information Technology system, students scored 66 percent. The result of the English Test of question sets on Health, before learning the English language through the Information Technology system, students gained a score of 35 percent. After learning the English language through the Information Technology system, students scored 70 percent.
