Strategies and Operational Mechanisms for Promoting High-Quality Development of the Edible Mushroom Industry in Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China

Abstract
This qualitative research aims to (1) analyze the internal and external environment of the Yunnan Office for the Advancement and Development of the Edible Mushroom Industry, (2) develop operational strategies to promote the high-quality development of the edible mushroom industry in Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China, and (3) propose practical approaches and operational mechanisms applicable to the industry. The research employs focus group discussions utilizing SWOT analysis and brainstorming techniques. The study population was purposively selected, consisting of six officials and representatives from agencies involved in the operations of the Yunnan Office for the Advancement and Development of the Edible Mushroom Industry. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis.
The research findings are as follows:
1. The internal and external environment of the Yunnan Office for the Advancement and Development of the Edible Mushroom Industry shows strengths in implementing the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system, efficiently managing local resources, and receiving strong government support. Additionally, the industry benefits from opportunities such as government policies that foster industrial growth and increasing production efficiency through digital technology, positioning it as an emerging and promising sector.
2. The operational strategies for promoting the high-quality development of the edible mushroom industry in Yunnan Province consist of five proactive strategies: quality control, adoption of digital technology, expansion into international markets, development of smart farms, and promotion of research and development. These strategies aim to enhance quality and efficiency while strengthening global market competitiveness.
3. The proposed operational mechanisms include enhancing quality and safety through standard development and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) implementation, integrating digital technology by establishing monitoring and farm management systems, expanding international markets through market analysis and promotional strategies, developing innovative farm management systems through internet of things (IoT) design and implementation, and fostering research and development by establishing research centers for experimentation, development, and knowledge dissemination.
