The Development of career skills for students with learning disabilities

Abstract

This article presents the development of career skills for students with learning disabilities. At present, the government through the Ministry of Education gives importance to children with special needs in every group. Developing vocational skills for children with learning disabilities helps equip them with the means to support themselves and their families. This is particularly relevant in today's world, where technology has expanded globally, creating a wider range of career opportunities and enabling rapid communication. A major challenge these children face is a lack of acceptance; they often perceive themselves as inferior to others—a mindset that may stem from their environment or the way others treat them. While we cannot control how others treat these children, we can focus on fostering their skills and self-reliance. However, we can foster a sense of self-pride in these children by starting at school, through the collaboration of parents and classmates. This approach is valuable for addressing the issue, as these children often harbor negative self-images—viewing themselves as different from their peers, incapable of learning, or unintelligent, and suffering from feelings of inferiority. It is therefore essential to build their confidence and help them realize that they are just like everyone else and possess their own capabilities. It enables children to develop knowledge and live happily within society, ultimately growing up to build a career that supports themselves and their families while continuing to live a happy life in the community.
