Abstract

The analysis of rhetorical usage and reflections of life in the folk songs of Nui Suweena aimed at 1) studying and analyzing the rhetorical style used in the folk songs of Nui Suweena and 2) analyzing the reflections in the folk songs of Nui Suweena. The research studied 35 copyright songs of the  R-siam Company. The results showed that the art of rhetorical usage could make the beautiful language in the songs. The composers chose the rhetorical language with the deep meaning to put the listeners in the mood. The rhetorical language and the reflections in the folk songs were important to the songs of Nui Suweena. They could create the outstanding style. The art of rhetorical usage used in the songs consisted of narrative, descriptive, preach, quirky and figure of speech. The reflections consisted of the life style of the southern people from the morning to the night. This life style was told through the lyrics, for examples: agriculture and fishery. For the reflection of love, there were different aspects, for example: the love of family and the lovers, happy and unhappy love. However, this love could help the listeners learn something and impress with the songs. For the reflection of education, the songs reflected on the education of the southern people. They mostly went to Bangkok for studying and working at the same time to lighten the load of their parents. For the reflection of dialect and culture, Southern dialect was used to add an air of fascination to the songs. This showed the identity and fascination of the southern dialect. For the thought in the songs, the contents reflected the human life style with different stories. These stories could be used as the role model in the society at the present. Moreover, they could be used as the guide for the study in the future.
