Strategies for Economic Preparedness of Informal Workers in the Agricultural Sector Entering Senior Age

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) study the states of economic preparedness of informal workers in the agricultural sector entering senior age, 2) formulate a set of strategies for economic preparedness of informal workers in the agricultural sector entering senior age, and 3) experiment and evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies for economic preparedness of informal workers in the agricultural sector entering senior age. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire, conducted by 384 farmer respondents aged 40-59 who lived in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Sakhon, which selected using multi-stage sampling. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis to formulate a set of strategies for the economic preparedness of informal workers in the agricultural sector entering senior age. The current states of the preparedness were analyzed by 17 experts using SWOT in conjunction with EDFR (Ethnographic Delphi Futures Research). The statistics used for data analysis were median and interquartile range (IQR). The strategies were experimented with a purposive sample group of 30 farmers by organizing a workshop on “Financial Planning and Management for Working-Age Farmers: Economic Preparedness for Farmers Entering Senior Age.” The research instrument was a project evaluation form. The data were analyzed using frequency and percentage.
