Factors Affecting Students’ Decision to Study at Sereeruk Kanboriban School, Bangkok

The purposes of this research were to study 1) the levels of factors affecting students’ decision to study; 2) the levels of opinions towards students’ decision to study; 3) the relationship between factors affecting students’ admission and the students’ decision to study; and 4) factors associated with students’ decision to study. The sample group used was 125 students taking a course of “Taking Care of Young Children and The Elderly” at Sereeruk Kanboriban School, Bangkok, in academic year 2019, which was calculated using Crazy and Morgan’s sample size table and simple randomness. The research instrument was a questionnaire, in which the quality of content validity was 0.87, and the reliability was 0.98. The statistics used for the data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and normal multiple regression analysis.
The results showed that 1) the factors affecting students’ decision were overall at a high level, in which the average scores ranked from highest to lowest were Individual, Family, Society, Curriculum and Academic, Public Relations, School, and Future Expectations; 2) the opinions towards students’ decision were overall at a high level, in which the average scores ranked from highest to lowest were Evaluation of Options, Information Seeking, Problem or Need Recognition, Behavior, and Selection; 3) the factors and the students’ decision were in a moderate positive relationship (rxy = .754) significantly at the .01 level; and 4) factors affecting students’ decision to study were Society, Family, School, Curriculum and Academic, Future Expectations, Individual, and Public Relations.
