A Training Model on Appropriate Use of Pistols for License Grantees in Three Southern Border Provinces Areas

Abstract

This research incorporated an action research to develop a training model on appropriate use of pistols for license grantees in the areas of three southern border provinces. The study was conducted in four phases. The first phase, which was carried out with 120 license grantees as the samples of the study, aimed to survey how pistols were commonly used. The second phase was to develop the model for the training. The third phase was to evaluate the model by sixteen experts. The fourth phase was the implementation of the training model with thirty participants in total. The implementation was run in form of a workshop for three rounds (ten participants each). 

The findings revealed that, in the first phase, the license grantees did not truly understand how to appropriately use the pistols and also could not eventually conform the correct guidelines and principles. In the second phase, it was found that the training model consisted of six knowledge bases and twenty nine learning units with the validity index (CVI) of 0.93. All units were congruent. In the third phase, the evaluation of the model showed that the developed training model was appropriate for use. In the fourth phase, the achievement score of the participants was significantly higher after experiencing the training model at .05 significance level.
