A Study of Thai Dramatic Art Skills in Noppharat Dance of Grade 11 Students Using Davie’s Teaching Approach with STAD Cooperative Learning Technique

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) compare Thai dramatic art skills in Noppharat dance before and after using Davie’s teaching approach with STAD cooperative learning technique, and 2) compare the skills after using Davie’s teaching approach with STAD cooperative learning technique with the skills using traditional teaching approach. This research was a quasi-experiment. The samples were 2 classes of 27 students studying in grade 11 at Angthong College of Dramatic Arts in the second semester of the academic year 2018. One class was the experiment group and the other was the control group. The research instruments were 18 two-hour lesson plans using Davie’s teaching approach with STAD cooperative learning technique, 18 two-hour traditional lesson plans, and the assessment form using the Rubric criteria for scoring.

The results of this research were as follows: 1) The skills after using Davie’s teaching approach with STAD cooperative learning technique was statistically significantly higher at a = 0.05 (t = 14.61), 2) The skills of the group using Davie’s teaching approach with STAD cooperative learning technique were statistically significantly higher than the other group taught by the traditional teaching approach at  a = 0.05 (t = 5.39).
