โลกุตรธรรมในวัฒนธรรมทางวรรณศิลป์ของไทย

Abstract

วัฒนธรรมทางวรรณศิลป์นอกจากจะตอบสนองความต้องการเชิงสุนทรียภาพแล้ว ยังสามารถสื่อความหมายซึ่งให้สติ ปัญญาแก่บุคคลและสังคม บนฐานคิดนี้ผู้รังสรรค์งานวรรณศิลป์จึงอาศัยพลังทางสุนทรียะสร้างความจรรโลงใจและชักนำผู้รับ ไปสู่การวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ปัญหาของมนุษย์ ในแง่ที่ความคิดเรื่องนิพพานเป็นมโนทัศน์สำคัญของสังคมไทย ก็น่าสนใจพิจารณา ว่า ในวรรณคดีสมัยก่อน ผู้ประพันธ์ได้แสดงปฏิกิริยาต่อภาวะปัญหาแห่งชีวิตและนำเสนอทัศนะเรื่องนิพพานในฐานะโลกุตร ปัญญาอย่างไร

ผลการศึกษาพบว่า แนวคิดเรื่องนิพพานในงานวรรณศิลป์ไทยสมัยก่อน ทั้งในวรรณคดีศาสนาและคำสอน วรรณคดี นิยาย หรือแม้แต่ในบทเพลงกล่อมเด็กของชาวบ้าน ปรากฏการแสดงภูมิธรรมขั้นโลกุตระอย่างโดดเด่น โลกทัศน์ทางพุทธศาสนา เป็นปัจจัยให้ผู้ประพันธ์แสดงปัญหาของมนุษย์ควบคู่กับศักยภาพในการเผชิญความทุกข์และความผกผันของชีวิต ตลอด จนนำเสนอว่า การต่อสู้เอาชนะศัตรูคือกิเลสตัณหาภายในจิตใจ การมีปัญญาญาณเข้าถึงภาวะที่เป็นจริงตามหลักไตรลักษณ์ โดยเฉพาะอนิจจัง รวมทั้งการตัดความยึดติดในสิ่งลวง อาจเบิกทางให้บุคคลหลุดพ้นจากห้วงทุกข์ กล่าวได้ว่าสังคมไทยมี งานสร้างสรรค์ทางวรรณศิลป์ที่แสดงนัยทางปรัชญาอย่างลึกซึ้งมาแล้ว และเป็นขุมทรัพย์ทางปัญญาซึ่งอาจคาดหวังว่า ผู้รับ ยุคใหม่จะสามารถเข้าไปขุดค้นคุณค่าในเชิงจริยธรรมออกมาเป็นเครื่องยึดเหนี่ยวจิตใจได้ ด้วยการศึกษาโดยอาศัยระเบียบวิธี ทางวรรณคดีวิจารณ์

Lokuttara in Thai Literary Conventions

Literary conventions serve to satisfy aesthetic needs and convey intellectual messages to individual persons and society as a whole. Authors of literary works make use of aesthetic powers to inspire readers and bring them to be critical of human issues. Since the concept of Nirvana is essential in Thai society, it is interesting to study how the authors of early literature respond to problems about life and how the concept of Nirvana is presented in their works.

According to the study, the concept of Nirvana is evident in early Thai literature, namely religious literature, didactic literature, novels, even lullaby, in which the emphasis of lokuttara as moral standards is remarkable. Human problems and their capacity to deal with afflictions and life caprice, as well as to overcome their own passion, are depicted through Buddhist worldview. Intellectual perception of the true nature of things, according to the three characteristics of existence (impermanence, incompleteness and non-self), and detachment oneself from illusion are suggested ways to liberate a person from his or her suffering. In short, Thai literature has been a source of wisdom with deeply philosophical implications, from which ethical values can be used, by means of literary criticism, as moral support for modern people.
