นัยสำคัญของผู้ก่อเหตุและเหยื่อที่ถูกข่มขืนในนวนิยายไทย

Abstract

บทความวิจัยนี้มุ่งค้นหานัยสำคัญของผู้ก่อเหตุและเหยื่อที่ถูกข่มขืนในนวนิยายไทย โดยศึกษาปมขัดแย้ง ของเรื่องที่ตัวเอกถูกข่มขืน ตั้งแต่งานช่วงหลังสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 ถึงต้นทศวรรษ 2550 นวนิยายทั้ง 18 เรื่อง ในขอบเขตการศึกษาสื่อนัยสำคัญถึงการข่มขืนด้วยการกระตุ้นให้พิจารณาถึงความหมายของผู้ก่อเหตุและเหยื่ออย่าง ถี่ถ้วน ข้อเรียกร้องดังกล่าวท้าทายวิจารณญาณให้ขบคิดถึงประเด็นต่อไปนี้ 1) ความสกปรกในจิตใจของผู้ข่มขืน กับความเชื่อว่าเหยื่อมีมลทิน 2) ความผิดทางกฎหมายของผู้ก่อเหตุกับความผิดที่เหยื่อไม่อาจประพฤติตามจารีต ได้ 3) ความจำเป็นที่ผู้ก่อเหตุ หรือเหยื่อต้องรับการบำบัดทางจิต 4)ความสูงศักดิ์ของผู้ก่อเหตุ กับความต่ำต้อย ของเหยื่อ 5) ความไร้ค่าของผู้ก่อเหตุหรือเหยื่อที่ถูกข่มขืน

แง่มุมทางความคิดที่ปลุกเร้าความสำเหนียกให้ใคร่ครวญคตินิยมทางเพศของสังคม ยังแฝงอยู่ในทัศนะ ผู้แต่งที่ให้ความเห็นต่อแรงขับเคลื่อนของผู้ก่อเหตุ และความเป็นไปในชีวิตของเหยื่อที่ถูกข่มขืน โดยมีประเด็น ให้ขบคิดต่อไปนี้ 1) ความบกพร่องทางจิตกับความพินาศของผู้ก่อเหตุและเหยื่อ 2) ความอ่อนแอแต่ฉุกคิดได้ของ ผู้ก่อเหตุและเหยื่อ 3) ความได้เปรียบทางสังคมของผู้ก่อเหตุ กับการยืนหยัดได้ของเหยื่อที่มีแรงเสริมจากคนรัก

อนึ่ง การวิพากษ์ถึงความอ่อนแอและเข้มแข็งที่มีอยู่ได้ทั้งในตัวผู้ก่อเหตุและเหยื่อซึ่งถูกข่มขืน ก็ถือเป็น นัยสำคัญที่เผยความเป็นมนุษย์ให้สังคมได้คลายความคิดสำเร็จรูปในการมองปัญหาคุกคามทางเพศ ยิ่งเมื่อผู้แต่ง ตีแผ่ให้เห็นว่าความเป็นไปแห่งการย่ำยีความเป็นคนนั้น เหยื่อผู้ถูกข่มขืนก็มีส่วนเสริมความหนักหนาของวงจร ตราบเท่าที่ยังหลงยึดถือตามค่านิยมสังคม การสลายมายาคติทางเพศให้ได้เมื่อรู้จักแยกแยะความหมายสำหรับ ตนเอง จึงเป็นความมุ่งหวังของผู้แต่งที่พยายามชี้หนทางแห่งการอยู่เหนือกฎเกณฑ์สมมุติเรื่องพรหมจรรย์ อันชี้ขาด คุณค่าความเป็นคน

The Significance of Rapists and Rape Victims in Thai Novels

This research aims to search for the significance of rapists and rape victims in Thai novels. It was found that raping of protagonists has been an important issue of Thai novels since post- World War II period up to 2010’s. All the 18 novels within the scope of this study convey the significance of raping by reflecting one or more social perceptions of rapists and rape victims as follows: 1) Rapists have ill-will and rape victims become stigmatized; 2) Rapists are criminals and rape victims are to blame for behavior that violate social norms; 3) Rapists and / or rape victims need psychological therapy; 4) Rapists belong to an upper social class while rape victims belong to a lower class; 5) Rapists and rape victims are worthless.

In their representations the novelists also encourage readers to reconsider sexual stereotypical values by expressing opinions concerning rapists’ motivations and victims’ lives after being raped. Their issues that challenge further contemplation include 1) psychological / mental infirmity and disaster in the lives of rapists and rape victims; 2) emotional weakness of rapists and rape victims and their regained self-determination; and 3) rapists’ social privileges in contrast with rape victims’ self-assertion strengthened by their lovers’ morale support.

The novelists’ criticism of weaknesses and strengths in both rapists and victims is a significant contribution towards a healthy society. In revealing both sides of human nature, especially by suggesting that sometimes rape victims are passive manipulators or perpetrators of the vicious circle, they have helped dismantle the society’s stereotypical views concerning sexual harassment. It is the intention of the novelists to challenge sexual myths in Thai society so that its members can free themselves from negative values based on dehumanization in sexual relationship. In particular, these authors offer means for individuals to move beyond the illusion about virginity, to appreciate self-worth, and to maintain integrity against all odds.
