โครงการการออกเสียงสูงต่ำในภาษาอังกฤษ : ผลสัมฤทธิ์ และความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 3 และ 4 ในสามจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้

Abstract

หนึ่งองค์ประกอบทางภาษาที่มีความสำคัญและจำเป็นใน การจัดการเรียนการสอนทักษะการพูดภาษาอังกฤษคือ การฝึก ออกเสียงสูงต่ำหรือทำนองเสียง แม้จะเป็นประเด็นเล็กๆ หาก กลับเป็นกุญแจสำคัญที่นำไปสู่การสื่อสารอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ อย่างไรก็ตาม ในประเทศไทยโดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งโรงเรียนในพื้นที่ ห่างไกลที่ผู้สอน อุปกรณ์การสอน และชั่วโมงการเรียนไม่สอดคล้อง กับจำนวนผู้เรียนในชั้น การฝึกออกเสียงสูงต่ำในภาษาอังกฤษจึง มักถูกมองข้ามไป ทำให้นักเรียนไทยยังมีข้อผิดพลาดในการพูด ภาษาอังกฤษ ด้วยเหตุนี้ ภาควิชาภาษาตะวันตก คณะมนุษยศาสตร์ และสังคมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ วิทยาเขตปัตตานี จึงจัดโครงการออกเสียงสูงต่ำในภาษาอังกฤษโดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ หลักเพื่อส่งเสริมความสามารถในการพูดภาษาอังกฤษของผู้เข้า ร่วมโครงการ และเพื่อกระตุ้นให้ผู้เข้าร่วมโครงการมีความสุข และทัศนคติที่ดีต่อการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษผ่านทางกิจกรรมที่มี ความสนุกสนาน

กลุ่มตัวอย่างในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ คือ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษา ปีที่ 3 และ 4 จากโรงเรียนในจังหวัดปัตตานี ยะลา และนราธิวาส จำนวน 121 คน ที่สมัครใจเข้าร่วมโครงการการออกเสียงสูงต่ำ ในภาษาอังกฤษ ระหว่างวันที่ 28-30 มิถุนายน 2556 ณ โรงแรม ซี เอส ปัตตานี จังหวัดปัตตานี เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยได้แก่ แบบทดสอบการออกเสียงสูงต่ำในภาษาอังกฤษก่อนและหลัง เข้าร่วมโครงกานฯ และแบบประเมินโครงการการออกเสียงสูงต่ำ ในภาษาอังกฤษ

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ผลสัมฤทธิ์ในการออกเสียงสูงต่ำในภาษา อังกฤษหลังเข้าร่วมโครงการของนักเรียนสูงกว่าก่อนเข้าร่วม โครงการอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 และนักเรียน มีความพึงพอใจต่อโครงการการออกเสียงสูงต่ำในภาษาอังกฤษ โดยเฉลี่ยที่ระดับดี

English Intonation in Context Project : Achievement and Satisfaction of Mattayomsuksa 3 and 4 Students in the Three Southern Border Provinces

One important aspect of English language required in an instruction of English speaking is a practice of intonation, which is a small but important key to successful communication. However, in Thailand, especially in schools at remote areas, where teachers, teaching materials and classroom periods are not compatible with the number of students in a classroom, intonation practice, as a result, is often ignored. This causes mistakes and inefficiency in English speaking of Thai students. The English Intonation in Context Project, therefore, was held by the Department of Western Languages, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus with the major purposes to enhance English speaking ability of participants and to encourage them to learn English with happiness and positive attitudes by the use of entertaining activities.

The samples in this study were 121 Mattayomsuksa 3 and 4 students from Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat provinces, who voluntarily participated in the project held for 3 days from 28-30 June 2013 at C.S. Pattani Hotel, Pattani province. The instruments used in data collection included pre and post tests on English intonation and an evaluation form on the project.

The study discovered that after the participation, English intonation achievement of the students was higher at a significant level of .05, and their overall satisfaction of the project was at a good level.
