A STUDY OF THEEDET THONGAPICHAT'S SONGS AS LITERARY REFLECTIONS OF ADOLESCENT ISSUES

Abstract

This academic article aims to examine Theedet Thongapichat’s songs as literary works reflecting adolescent issues. The study analyzes ten solo songs performed by Theedet Thongapichat and disseminated through YouTube between 2017 and 2024. The findings reveal that Theedet Thongapichat’s songs portray a wide range of adolescent issues at the individual, family, and community levels. These issues include family problems, educational challenges, drug abuse, materialism, peer influence, gaming addiction, imprisonment, romantic relationships, nightlife activities, delinquent behavior, illegal motorcycle racing, violent conflicts, gang fights, and a lack of personal responsibility. Although the songs primarily reflect the experiences of adolescents and communities in Southern Thailand, these issues are not unique to the region; rather, they are prevalent in communities throughout the country. As literary works, Theedet Thongapichat’s songs serve as a medium for communicating social realities and raising public awareness of adolescent issues. They encourage concerned sectors of society to recognize these problems and collaborate in supporting young people through critical stages of life. Furthermore, the songs emphasize the importance of guiding adolescents toward maturity, enabling them to develop sound judgment, moral responsibility, and positive social values as future members of society.
