Abstract

Research Article on the Creation of City Pop Instrumental Song "Hope of the City" is a creative study aiming to explore composition techniques and create City Pop-style music. The study found that city pop music has started playing a role in the Thai music industry, as seen in past songs, such as those by Uay Ruviwattana, or contemporary bands like Polycat. City Pop incorporates distinct elements such as synthesizer sounds, beautiful chord progressions, and English lyrics. Drawing techniques from research documents, influential artists like Mariya Takeuchi, and an interview with Kasidej Ritngam (Piew) as a producer and the keyboardist of TELEx TELEXs, the researcher composed a set of three instrumental City Pop songs  City of Worries, City of Waiting, and City of Weakness. These songs express the transient nature of love, urging us to savor brief moments of happiness before parting, emphasizing the joy found in small things or in brief moments, even though there might be a tinge of sadness or longing at the end or during those moments. The songs depict various narratives, such as "City of Worries" exploring anxiety and uncertainty, "City of Waiting" portraying the anticipation and hope for love, and "City of Weakness" narrating vulnerability during a specific period but strengthened by encouragement and love.
