MAIN CHARACTER’S TYPE OF THE ROMANTIC COMEDY TELEVISION DRAMAS OF CHANNEL 7HD

Abstract

Main character, likes leading male actor and leading female actor in the romantic comedy television dramas is one of main components which is very interesting and appealing to audiences because they are presented as the main character who constantly creates love, happiness, and amusement in hilarious situation. The characteristics of main character have developed and changed along with Thai television drama industry. Based on the study of the characterization of main character in the romantic comedy television dramas on Channel 7HD over a year ago (2019 - 2020) found that there are diversity in characterization of leading male actor and leading female actor, mostly in round character depending on character and story. Leading male character mostly are gentleman, family lover, forthright, reasonable, courage. However, there are some more characterization that make character more interesting such as playful, cunning, talkative. Leading female character mostly are assertive, forthright, clever, strong, and sensitive. Thus, the characterization of main character in romantic comedy television dramas on Channel 7HD is complicated according to Thai’s society diversity.
