STATE AND PROBLEM IN THE TEMPLE ABBOTS ADMINISTRATION IN NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this thematic paper were as follows: 1) To study the state and problem in the temple abbots’ administration in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. 2) To study the suggestion on state and problem in the temple abbots’ administration in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The population were composed of Sangha’s ecclesiastics in Nakhon Si Thammarat province for 543persons, sample size according to the table of R.V. Krejcie and D.W. Morgan, got the sample at the number of 226 persons, The instrument for data collection was questionnaire. Data analysis by package computer program. The statistics were analyzed as follows, frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t–test F-test and LSD method.

The results reveal that:

1. The state and problem in the temple abbots’ administration in Nakhon Si Thammarat province by overviews in six aspects are at moderate level, while consider in each aspects from more to less find that the aspect of public welfare is the highest mean and follow up the aspect of Dhamma dissemination and the aspect of religious study is lowest mean respectively. when classify in terms of ages, periods of monkhood, degrees of secular education, Dhamma studies and periods of abbot’s position standing find that there are at moderate level.

2.The suggestion on state and problem in the temple abbots’ administration in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The problem find that; the public welfare aspect, the highest find that the abbot works without planning in construction and dwelling in temple as clustering. The resolution find that the highest is the aspect of public welfare i.e. the abbot should plan to construct any building or making background as nice as possible.
