The Nature in Kālidāsa’s Abhijñānaśākuntalum and Meghadūta

Abstract

The research paper, entitled "The Nature in Kālidāsa’s Abhijñānaśākuntalam and Meghadūta," aims to study nature in the poems of Kālidāsa, using the scope of information from the dramatic literature (drama) on Abhijñānaśākuntalam, and the Khaṇḍakāvya genre on Meghadūta.  The results showed that Kālidāsa used his intellect in his authorship to convey the diversity of the meaning of nature in his works.  Kālidāsa realized the nature of all aspects and cared about the environment that influenced the existence of all lives, which was reflected in his poetry, which contained contents including knowledge, people’s way of life, and the environment. With these outstanding works, Kālidāsa was a true representative of the poet of nature.  He was greatly admired by Indians and foreigners for his poetry, who referred to him as "Kavikulaguru," which means "Master of Poets." Nature was life and the essence of his poetry, which could touch the hearts of all readers in this modern era.
