Analysis and Classification of Knowledge in Lanna Khaw

Abstract

The purpose of this study, Analysis and Classification of Knowledge in Lanna Khaw (Khaw is Lanna-Thai rhymed verse), is to analyze the content and categorize the knowledge gained from Lanna Khaw via the qualitative research discipline. The study was conducted on Lanna Khraw content analyzing model, taking it as a tool for gathering information about Lanna Khaw from 266 topics of both publishes and digital medias altogether. The result of the research reveals as follows: Lanna Khaw: Khaw Saw (poems), Khaw Hum (used for description in archives), Khaw Chai (love letters between a man and a woman), Khaw Tham (the poem used for writing stories about royal families), Kham Oo Bao Oo Sao (Lanna serenades), and Khaw Gom (brief poems). The study result reflects that the mostly frequent type of Lanna Khaw is Khaw Hum 153 titles (57.52%), Khaw Saw 77 titles (28.95%), and Khaw Tham 13 titles (4.89%). The most frequent form of Lanna Khaw is the narrative form for 124 titles (46.62); tale for 52 titles (19.55); and legend for 41 titles (15.41). In addition, the style of content presentation is the social events story 74 titles (27.82) jataka tales 20 title (7.52), and local legends 16 titles (6.02). Classification of Knowledge in Lanna Khaw; considering from classification theory, can be basically categorized into 10 main classes, 44 sub-classes, 59 divisions, and 38 sub-divisions.
