The Role of UNICEF in Protecting Children from Violence in the Syrian civil war between 2011 and 2016

Abstract
This article aims to study (1) the history of concept on children protection, (2) the mechanism of the United Nations, (3) the roles of UNICEF, and (4) the appropriate guidelines of children protection from violence of the civil war in Syria. The research reveals that the concept of children protection could be traced back to the ancient time. It is inherited from the ancient Greek and Roman concepts of natural right. The missions on children protection of the United Nations comprise a peace mechanism, international stability and international humanitarian mechanism. The UN’s missions were focused on international agreements. UNICEF has effectively been able to offer humanitarian assistance and healing rather than direct law enforcement. UNICEF’s conducts rely on a mutual cooperation among the agencies of the United Nations, particularly the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Also, UNICEF’s conducts require a unity in making agreements for ending the war crime, etc.
