The Achievement of Export Performance of Small and Medium enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand

Abstract

The objectives of the study are 1) to analyze the Effect of Entrepreneurial Orientation on Export Performance 2) to analyze the Effect of Entrepreneurial Orientation and Export Barriers on Export Performance 3) to analyze the Effect of Export Barriers on Export Performance of SMEs in Thailand The researcher employed a sample survey and has sample size of 224 organizations. The data was collected by questionnaires and employed the SPSS for window and LISREL for windows Version 8.52. Data calculation included a descriptive statistic such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, confirmatory Factor Analysis and Path analysis. The result of research showed that 1) the factor Entrepreneurial Orientation which was Innovativeness, Proactiveness and Risk-Taking have direct effect on Export Performance 2) the factor Entrepreneurial Orientation have indirect effect on Export Performance by mediating to Internal Export Barriers 3) the factor Reducing Internal Export Barriers which was Informational Barriers, Functional barriers and Marketing Barrier have direct effect on Export Performance of SMEs in Thailand. From the results of the study, the Public and Private Enterprises who are responsible to formulate policy and plan to develop Small and Medium Enterprises should focus on policy to develop the potentiality of SMEs Exporter which was Entrepreneurial Orientation in the first priority and formulate policy to reduce Internal export Barrier respectively which will enhance SMEs Export Performance and result in the economic growth and competitive advantage.
