Abstract

Participatory democracy is appreciated by the Royal Thai government, as is evident in many public policies, including the Thai Constitution of 1997 and of2007. Unfortunately, when puttingparticipatory democracy into practice there are many obstacles, as we can see that popular democracy in Thailand is still weak. This article explains the concepts ofparticipatory democracy and popular democracy in Thailand and policy suggestions are made in order to promote constitutional democratic monarchies.
