The Impacts of Industrial Estate Towards Community: A Case Study of Ban Bon Community Map Ta Phut Town Municipality

Abstract

               This quantitative research aims to: 1) Study the impact of industrial estates on communities 2) Compare public opinions on the impacts of industrial estates on communities classified by personal factors. The sample group used in this research was people aged 18 years and over who lived in the Ban Bon community Map Ta Phut Municipality, a total of 343 people, were obtained by stratified random sampling. The research instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire with reliability values 0.85. Statistics used in data analysis include frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), t-test and One-Way Analysis of Variance: in the case of significance, Post Hoc Comparison were performed using Sheffe's Method, setting the statistical significance level at 0.05.

               The results of the research found that 1) The overall impact of the industrial estate on the community was at a high level (=2.71). The impacts can be arranged in order from highest to lowest as follows, economic impacts (=2.95) were ranked 1st, followed by health impacts (= 2.82), social impacts (= 2.95 ) and environmental impacts (= 2.47 ). 2) People of different genders, ages, marital status, education level, income, occupations, family members has a significantly different opinion on the impact at the 0.05 level, except that people with different periods of time in the community have no different opinions on the impact of the industrial estate.
